Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso episode 09
Not bad episode. I was actually surprised until my expectations where finally met at the last moment. And yes, the pace is still too damn slow. I believe we already saw half the episode before Kousei’s fingers finally touched that piano.
I must say that I did enjoy seeing a bit more about that girl’s past. I normally don’t care for the pasts of supporting characters, but there is something about her that simply interests me. Also, she is just another female character that may or may not end up fighting for Kousei’s heart, making that boy pretty damn lucky for someone with so many mental issues.
Still, the way she fought to learn how to play piano. All because she saw Kousei play as a child. She wanted to play in the same competition as him and that’s what inspired her to play the piano. That’s nice! I don’t care if it’s love or just plain rivalry. Every person needs a goal and a whole lot of “fuel” to get there.
But yeah, Kousei finally started playing and I was shocked that it was going pretty well. People were actually saying that he was still the same puppeteer as before, hitting all the notes flawlessly. That’s when I started to worry a little. Was Kousei really going to win? Was he really going to show us a great performance after all the crap that we’ve seen so far? His mother has broken him pretty badly, so there was no way for him to win, right? And that’s when he started to play badly. He started thinking about his mother again and that cat, lost track of the notes and started playing like he did when he was Kaori’s accompanist. My world once again makes sense.
