Shingeki no Kyojin

This is one for the books! My god, this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a very, very long time. The drama and horror was absolutely unreal. I’m sold. It’s a must read, a must write and quite possibly a must buy. No more need be said I think.

Shingeki no KyojinThe artwork is superb. It looks like nothing special at first, but then you see the village, the weapons and the huge, perverted-looking giants that they call titans and you simply cannot help but get amazed by the sight of that. It all looks amazing and incredibly detailed. It’s like sex for the soul.

I’m actually having trouble deciding on which is better; the story or the artwork? I’m going to have to think about that, because the story is just as amazing. I always have been a fan of myths and ancient gods. This truly turned out to be a very promising season.

I can only say that you are not an anime fan if you haven’t yet seen the first episode. Trust me, you are bound to like it. I’m not saying that it’s immediately going to be your number one anime, but you’ll definitely like it, I’m sure of it. It may be interesting to know that this show already conquered many top 25 lists of many known websites, it’s just that good.

Plot Summary: Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants.

Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind.

It was an amazing few months. I cannot wait for the second season or indeed the live action film to arrive! 😀
