Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen

I really liked what I saw here. It’s too bad that the end kind of ruined it for me, but it was amusing nonetheless. It’s by no means one of the best mecha-genre anime that I’ve seen, but it’s still worth watching.

Shirogane no Ishi ArgevollenThe artwork is pretty nice. I especially liked the mechs. They looked kind of old and weren’t made to look exactly like the human body. They looked as though they could actually be built for real. Of course, that shred of excitement disappeared when that mysterious mech surfaced.

The story is such a cliché. It’s been done to death. A boy fights the enemy in an old mech and loses, only to come across a super modern mech that will turn things around. They are going to have to be very original from this point forward for me to keep watching.

Do I recommend it? I honestly can’t. It’s all but original. The latest mech kind of ruined things for me and I honestly don’t like the way things are going right now. I’ll have to wait until the second episode before I actually decide to drop this or not, but I certainly don’t think it’s good enough right now to recommend.

Plot Summary: The Kingdom of Arandas Alliance and the Countries Unification of Ingelmia have been at war for many years. The situation has been at a stalemate across the fortress of the Great Wall, which has never been penetrated since the foundation of Arandas. The gate to the fortress has remained firmly closed, but when it creaks open, the complexity of war starts to change dramatically.
