Space Brothers episode 43

People everywhere, I cried during this episode. Men aren’t supposed to show or admit emotion, but I got a good excuse; still have a slight fever. I’m hot (in more ways than one right now), sweaty and quite possibly a little delusional right now. I shed a tear or two, deal with it.

I did not sign up to watch how Hibito used to deal with Brian, but boy am I glad I saw that. It complimented the episode. I was merely worried that it was going to be another one of those episodes where the actual story continued during the last two minutes of the episode.

Hibito’s struggle was very moving. He recalled all those memories of Brian when he had a few minutes of oxygen left. He gave up on looking at the stars while dying. He just wanted to know what the hell that blinding light was. Was it worth it? No. A miniature spacesuit of Brian would not have saved him.

[HorribleSubs] Space Brothers - 43 [720p].mkv_snapshot_17.43_[2013.02.03_22.50.29]The reason why I loved this episode is because the drama was amazing. It wasn’t the type of predictable crap where his colleagues save him at the very last second. He may have been saved at the very last second, but it was different. Hibito actually ran out of oxygen and suffered quite a bit. It’s not like running out of oxygen on earth. Running out of oxygen on the moon will result in a very, very scary-looking corpse, and I’m sure Hibito knew that. I’m damn sure he knew the consequences of running out of oxygen there. That’s why it was so dramatic, and why it was so damn cool when the “Brian 3” drone came in the nick of time, allowing Hibito to access its oxygen supply. Space Brothers, I love you.
