Space Brothers episode 69
Now this is an episode worth mentioning! Last week’s episode was a bit disappointing, and I thought this week wasn’t going to be that different, but no… I loved it! It’s nice to see that they’re picking up the pace once again.
The episode started out really strange. If you look past that short recap at the beginning, you see a bunny commercial that the Japanese had made in order to honour Hibito use Hibito’s image to make money by turning that whole look-at-me-jumping-on-the-moon-while-shouting-“yay”-thing into a moneymaking anime. Isn’t it bad enough that we had to see him and pretty much all of Japan wear those ridiculous bunny ears without having to deal with this anime crap now? To me it just seems like a weak attempt to make us, the viewers, laugh. The idea itself isn’t even that funny to begin with.
But yeah, only the first few minutes of this episode were wasted. The rest was pretty good. We all knew that old man, Deneil Young, was going to retire after Mutta graduated. Mutta was to be his last and best trainee. That’s is what made this episode special, it was very touching and very, very interesting.
It took us sixty-nine weeks, sixty-nine weeks of drama, comedy and action, but we’re finally here; Mutta passed and is now officially an astronaut. What’s more; he might even get to go to outer-space in roughly eighteen months… How awesome is that!? I can only hope that doesn’t mean that we actually have to wait eighteen more months for that to happen, hehe.
