Space Brothers episode 71
Quite the easy-going episode (despite the bad news). It really makes me wonder how long this show is going to go on for. It was fun to see Mutta grow as a person and make it as an astronaut, but I, too, noticed that the ratings are slowly going down.
This episode really reminded me why I don’t like Mutta’s parents. You can never take those two seriously and they always screw up an otherwise serious episode. Comedy is one thing, but mixing comedy with a lot of drama and bad news is a definite no-no. It’s definitely not the start I had imagined for this week’s episode.
But yeah, we waited an extra week for this episode, and what do we get? Mutta is having his picture taken with his little brother for some magazine. That’s when I knew that this episode wouldn’t really do it for me, despite the interesting turn of events during the last few minutes. I honestly think that Space Brothers would’ve done a whole lot better if they held back a bit when it comes to comedy.
I can’t say that it was a waste of an episode though. We learned that Hibito is having trouble with his training, and that he may cease to be an astronaut after being traumatized by that awful experience on the moon. Mutta, too, noticed that his little brother was acting up a bit, which I think is disappointing since he didn’t do anything about it. It seems as though he believed his brother blindly when he told him that he was fine, even though his facial expressions said otherwise. I always thought that Mutta was one of those characters that immediately notices when something is wrong. Oh well…
