Space Dandy 2
So the anime that’s supposed to save anime in general is back, hmm? What a load of crap. The anime that’s supposed to save anime? Give me a break. The sales in Japan were horrible and the ratings weren’t all that great either. In fact, the first season performed better in the USA than in Japan. How sad…
I honestly don’t think it’s the story that’s at fault here. Is it the artwork then? I don’t know. The characters look okay and most of them are truly unique and interesting, but there are some aspects of Space Dandy (like his cheap-looking ship) that I would’ve changed.
Anyway, the story is alright. Not the kind of story that I would praise to the point where I would say that it could save anime in general, but hey… It has its moments.
Space Dandy is just one of those overhyped shows that got a second season because it hauled in cash from other countries. Is it a great show? No. It’s amusing, but by no means could this ever compete with Sword Art Online or Tokyo Ghoul. Just see for yourself.
Plot Summary: Space Dandy is a space hunter, someone who is paid to search for new, undiscovered alien species. It’s an industry where the prize goes to the person who finds aliens the fastest. Dandy searches unknown planets for strange beings with his companions, QT the worn-out robot and Meow from Betelgeuse. Meanwhile, they’re being chased by minions of the Gogol Empire, for reasons that are still a mystery.
