No Game No Life episode 02

I am absolutely loving No Game No Life! You are given an idea of what to expect from the story, but then it suddenly takes a strange turn and you can start all over again. I, too, have an idea of what Sora wants right now, but that could change again next week.

[HorribleSubs] No Game No Life - 02 [720p].mkv_snapshot_05.02_[2014.04.17_22.56.47]No Game No Life is pure magic. Sora struck me as the type of character that wants an easy life behind a PC where he can play the rest of his life. Shiro is somewhat similar, but only because she pretty much follows her brother in everything he does. You could very well say that Sora is responsible for his little sister’s mental issues.

This episode is one hell of an example… Sora defeated Stephanie in a game of rock, paper and scissors, after which he ordered her to fall in love with him. It’s moments like these that you realize how messed up that guy truly is. The worst part is that that poor girl has to obey and fall in love with him. She no longer has any choice.

[HorribleSubs] No Game No Life - 02 [720p].mkv_snapshot_21.28_[2014.04.17_22.57.24]There are many things that I still want to point out, but I hate reading huge posts that go about nothing, so I always try to keep my posts short and simple. I was actually quite shocked when I saw what happened when the two of them are separated. They become weak little creatures that can no longer function properly. Only when they’re together do they act all high and mighty. This could prove to be quite difficult when they’re going to take on “royalty”. They may be great at playing games, but they sure have a lot of weaknesses, which makes it all the more interesting.

No Game No Life

What the hell? Why didn’t this catch my eye sooner? This truly was a very pleasant surprise. I dare call it a must-write at this point. I thought it was going to be another one of those stories about a NEET and his live behind a pc screen.

No Game No LifeThe artwork… wow. It looks amazing. It really, really does. I really like this style and I think it fits the story perfectly. It’s so colourful and detailed that I cannot look away. In fact, my phone rang as I was watching this episode, so I “feeling” its position because I couldn’t look away. Needless to say that I was too late and had to call back later after I finished watching the first episode.

I thought I was going to have to follow Sora and Shiro as they wasted away in that room playing games. Well, at least for the most part. I also thought that it could be like dot hack, where the characters were dragged into a game and couldn’t log out of out. But no… This is different and it’s very good!

Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Just to make sure you got the message: watch it. This is arguably the best show this season. Mahouka is good, it really is, but this might just be a little bit better. I am completely hooked right now.

Plot Summary: Genius gamer siblings (plus being NEET & hikikomori) Sora and Shiro are known as the undefeatable “__” (blank). Their talents and skills are so good they are considered as urban legend. One day, a young boy named Teto appears before them, claiming to be the “God” of another dimension where Sora and Shiro are summoned to, in which no violence is allowed and everything is decided by a game. Of the 16 different races residing in this world, “Humanity” is the weakest. After having the vast majority of their lands captured by the other races and being driven to the brink of extinction, Sora and Shiro challenge these one-of-a-kind battles of the intellectual powers in order to save Humanity.

Soul Eater Not!

I am definitely going to watch this from start to finish, just like with Soul Eater. I absolutely loved that show and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to love this one as well. I was sold when I laid eyes on Tsugumi. That character is adorable!

Soul Eater Not!I think that the artwork is and always has been the greatest feature of Soul Eater. It’s just too good. It looks good, everything is so incredibly unique and detailed… Are there really people that dislike the artwork? I find that hard to imagine.

This isn’t like Soul Eater where characters would set out on their own journey to become the best of the best. At least, I don’t think so. I think it would be quite nice to learn how the whole Soul Eater world works.

I honestly do recommend this. It might be best to watch Soul Eater first, but that might not be all that important since this is a side story and not a continuation. It all depends on the person, really. I still suggest that you do watch Soul Eater first if you haven’t already.

Plot Summary: Soul Eater Not! is a side-story to the main series, focusing on a freshman halberd named Tsugumi Harudori, who befriends two other meisters, Meme Tatane and Anya Hepburn. All three take part in the NOT (Normally Overcome Target) class at DWMA and learn to control their powers in order to overcome their difficulties to have a normal life, as opposed to the battle-oriented EAT (Especially Advanced Talent) class taken by Maka, Soul, and their companions.

Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to

I would feel no shame by saying that the only thing wrong this show is that it’s only thirteen minutes per episode (OP and ED included). I could totally see myself watching twenty minutes of this every week for the next twelve weeks, no problem.

Mangaka-san to Assistant-san toThe artwork is nothing special. It doesn’t have to be. Its key feature definitely isn’t the artwork. Still, it’s by no means bad. I think Sena, Yuuki’s editor, is absolutely brilliant. A loli editor that’s self-conscious about her little breasts… Definitely worth watching if the material is properly used!

The story is the best thing here. It’s not complicated, it’s not flashy and it’s certainly not that hard to imagine. It’s pure genius. Just a slice of life piece about the life of an ero mangaka and his colleague and friends.

I truly do recommend this. I’m sure comedy fans and perhaps slice of life fans wouldn’t mind watching this at all. I laughed and laughed during those ten glorious minutes. It really is too bad that it’s so short.

Plot Summary: The story depicts the work-life of a perverted mangaka, Aito Yuuki, and his assistant, Ashisu Sahoto. Constantly pressured by his editor and lacking experience with girls, Aito asks Ashisu to act as a reference.

Seikoku no Dragonar

What a strange first episode. This will surely have negative impact on the initial ratings. The biggest problem with the first episode is that you don’t really know what’s going on. Nothing has been explained and everything is still one big question mark.

Seikoku no DragonarThe artwork is alright. So far only one character with unique features, but it’ll have to do. I’m more worried about those effects. They seemed kind of cheap. Also, prepare to see a whole lot of breasts and panties. That much is obvious.

The story is the biggest problem here. It’s too vague. I understand that it’s about two kingdoms that are secretly at war behind the scenes and about a boy that summoned a special “parr” (whatever the hell that is)  given to him by a mysterious lady that also saved his life.

Ecchi and fantasy fans will probably eat their hearts out. I, too, will continue to watch it for the time being. The first episode may have been vague, but it certainly makes you want to watch just a little more.

Plot Summary: Ash is a student at Ansalivan Dragon Academy, attended by children who have formed contracts with dragons. He possesses the “star mark,” the sign of a contract, but since his partner hasn’t been born yet, he seems insignificant. The awakening of the dragon he’s raising inside his body is triggered by an incident, and it emerges in the form of a young girl.
