The Knight in the Area episode 02

Alright, I’ll write this one post before I call it a night. You know, I’ve never really been a fan of soccer, not one bit. I rather play it myself than watch a bunch of grown men running after a ball. I don’t want to offend anyone, but it kind of looks gay. I know a lot of training goes into it, but still, it’s just not for me.

Okay, so I just stated that I have no affinity for soccer whatsoever, the real question now being; why do I actually like this show so much then? I can’t help it; my eyes are glued to the screen when I start watching this show. The show itself isn’t anything that special, but still I keep watching. Even when Kakeru, being his weakling self, still refused to play seriously without holding back.

A lot of people noticed Kakeru’s talents. Sure, he missed all of those golden opportunities, but he kept up with the rest. Hell, the rest couldn’t keep up with him. His stamina, flexibility and speed far exceeded the defenders, thus giving him those golden opportunities. It’s nice that he’s able to create opportunities like that, but it’s pointless if he’s not able to utilize them.

It was an emotional turning point in Kakeru’s life. He finally decided, after having dealt with all the agro from others, to play soccer seriously again. I’m not completely sure what happened in his past. I know he had an accident of sorts that rendered him mentally unable to use his dominant leg, but that has yet to be clarified. All I know is; Kakeru’s back! And boy was his brother happy, to have his little brother, one of the very few people who can handle his unique passes, back in the field again.

Then, when everything started to go so smoothly, something happened that I never would’ve guessed. It seems that both of the Aizawa bothers got into an accident. A drunk driver hit them with his car while they were standing on the sidewalk. I don’t know how it’s going to go from here on out, but I do know this; Kakeru, after finally having made his breakthrough, will now have to deal with yet another accident, providing he’s fine.

It was yet another chaotic episode with an ending that probably neither one of us ever expected. I like how I couldn’t predict the outcome, because that gives me a somewhat satisfying feeling. At this point I just hope that both of the brothers are fine. There’s no dynamic duo if one of them becomes chronically injured, or worse…
