Uchouten Kazoku episode 08
Fantastic episode! It may have been a bit slow-paced compared to some of the other episodes, but I loved every minute of it. It’s the kind of episode that makes me even angrier when I see the user ratings on most websites. Uchouten Kazoku is definitely the most underrated show of this summer.
The truth finally revealed itself after all this time. Yajirou’s story has finally been told. I can only hope that he can overcome all of these hardships so that he can someday return to being the same old foolish tanuki with a thirst for alcohol. He is kind of standing in the middle of a coin; on one side he’s definitely partially responsible for his father untimely demise. This could’ve been avoided if he either stayed with him or didn’t allow his father to get completely blotto. On the other side he was the youngest there, so was it really his responsibility? His father was old and wise enough to know what he was doing. Should Yajirou really be held responsible for this?
It’s mindboggling that the old man just let himself get eaten like that though. Think about it; he’s a tanuki, a magical creature that, from what I’ve seen, can transform into a freakin’ mountain. Couldn’t he just have transformed and escaped? It’s almost as though he wanted to end up as food for human beings that day.
Anyway, the emotion in this episode was absolutely absurd. I shed a few tears, dammit! I am not ashamed to admit that this episode really hit me and that it was definitely one of the best episodes thus far. This episode really makes me want to see the rest. How are they going to end this? Is Yasaburou going to confront Satomi? Come on, give us a double episode next time!
