Uchouten Kazoku episode 13
Good stuff! Even the ending I could not predict. I’m just happy that Uchouten Kazoku has risen above an eight in ratings on most anime community websites. It was definitely the underdog of 2013’s summer.
Anyway, I’m glad that the Shimogamo family is doing well again. They cut it really close and almost lost a family member or two, but it’s seems alright now. The only thing that I regret seeing is romance. I really wouldn’t have minded a few more romantic scenes with Yasaburou and Satomi. Maybe even Yajirou and Kaisei.
Speaking about Kaisei; I’m kind of surprised that her word against her father’s meant nothing. He just He just told everyone that the word of a confused little girl cannot be trusted, not even if it’s his own daughter that’s testifying against him. He probably would’ve gotten away with it if he didn’t mess it up when Yaichirou went nuts and saw that their mother was about to get eaten.
Let’s back up for a bit though. Their mother, Souun’s sister in-law, was about to be boiled in a hotpot. What was that? I know Souun envied his brother to death, literally, but does that imply that he also had a thing for his wife? Was Souun actually interested in that strange woman? He sure didn’t like it when she was in danger.
These last thirteen weeks have been delightful. I can only hope that they decide to make another season, preferably one with a bit more romance. Don’t get me wrong, I loved almost every scene of every episode, but I think a bit more romance would make this show so much better than it already is. Thank you for this, Japan!
