Uchouten Kazoku

What the hell is this? How did this show receive only a 7.2 average when it’s this interesting? I hate to say this, but this is one of the more interesting shows of this season. No more of that slice of life nonsense.

Uchouten KazokuThe artwork isn’t anything special, I admit that. I wouldn’t be surprised if people were referring to this show as a low-budget production. It’s not though… I think it looks nice and I like most of the characters so far.

For me it’s the story that did it. It’s simply too interesting to ignore. In fact, don’t be surprised if I were to write about this show, too. I am really interested in seeing where they’re going with this.

I would really change only one thing about this show; more romance. I am fully aware of the fact that this is just another one of those comedies where the characters can transform, but I think that a bit of romance would do wonders here. I recommend that you give the first episode a try, it’s definitely worth a shot.

Plot Summary: In Kyoto, there are three kinds of residents: humans, tanuki, and tengu. Shimogamo Yasaburou is the third son of the Shimogamo tanuki family. His father, Souichirou, had been the head of Kyoto tanuki community until he was eaten by the human members of “Friday Club”. While taking care of an old tengu, fighting with other tanuki, and playing with a psychic human girl, Yasaburou approaches the truth of his father’s death.
