The World God Only Knows 3 episode 12
Okay, it’s over. I can finally form a clear opinion on whether or not this season measured up with the rest. I think this season may have been better than the second one, although slightly, but it’s by no means the best. It’s just not original.
Irony truly is a b*tch, because the story followed to manga pretty accurately, yet the manga was so much better. That is why I doubt that we’ll get to see another season any time soon. The anime hasn’t been doing all that well since the last season and this season’s ratings look pretty poor, too (I’m not talking about user ratings).
Before I continue I will have said that I do not acknowledge this episode as a decent ending. It’s the only reason why I would like to see a bit more content – closure. Keima still had that thing around his neck, his homeroom teacher didn’t come forward and he didn’t make up with what could be the only girl he actually liked. That’s not how you end things.
This action-filled episode was amusing. It created more questions than it answered, but that’s just something we’ll have to deal with in our own way. I also think that was overpowering at first. She seemed strong after her boss gave her his blessing, especially with that cool-looking scythe, but watching her fight was absolutely dreadful.
Finally, Keima lost. The goddesses may have been successfully united thanks to him, but he lost the girl, is still forced to help Elucia with her soul-finding quest and he still doesn’t know anything about what’s really going on. There has been very little progress, which is why I cannot accept this as a worthy ending to an otherwise fine series.
