Yama no Susume

Crap! I completely forgot about this one. I had seen the first episode, but I had forgotten to write anything about it afterwards. It’s a good thing that this wasn’t as bad as some of the other anime shorts, because I had to watch this twice now.

Yama no SusumeThe artwork isn’t very bad for an anime short, I’ll give them that much. It looks pretty entertaining at first, but it soon gets boring, even though it’s only three minutes per episode to begin with. It’s a shame, because it could’ve been worth watching.

The story isn’t as good as the artwork, and that says something, because the artwork isn’t that amazing to begin with. I just can’t seem to grasp it. It’s too weird.

Do I recommend this? No. I don’t. It’s not that it’s a bad anime short. I just don’t recommend anime shorts in general. They’re a waste of time, because building up a proper story is useless when it comes to anime shorts. It may be fun to watch for some people, as it’s only three minutes per episode, but this just isn’t for me.

Plot Summary: Aoi prefers indoor hobbies and is afraid of heights, but her childhood friend Hinata loves to show off her passion for mountain climbing. As young children they once watched the sunrise from the top of a mountain, and now they’ve decided to take up mountain climbing in hopes of seeing that sunrise again. They have cooking battles with mountaineering gear, climb small hills in their neighborhood, and meet new mountaineering friends as they learn the ropes of the hobby. When will they finally see that sunrise again?
