Yowamushi Pedal episode 02
To hell with it, let’s write this b*tch up! And no, anime about bicycles do not make me talk like I’m black. I’m just bored. Still, I just decided to pick this one because I really enjoyed watching the first two episodes.
Normally it’s the underdog that catches my attention first, but this time it’s Shunsuke. He looks like a troubled young man. I have no idea what that is, seeing as he has way more than a normal boy his age would have. I can only imagine that he comes from a wealthy family, but he doesn’t really seem like he’s happy.
Next, of course, would be Sakamichi, a small runt that loves anime and manga. He found out that he has strong legs, great stamina and maybe even a lot of talent. He managed to ride his mommy bike up that hill, which, if I am to believe Miki’s older brother, is nearly impossible to do on a mommy bike in one go.
Shunsuke gave him a fifteen minute head start, fair but cocky. And yes, he also managed to pass Sakamichi even though he gave him that head start. I don’t know if that’s really because of the difference between a mommy bike and a racing bike, or because Shunsuke is just that good a bicyclist, but it seems kind of unreal.
Speaking about unreal; could one’s posture really affect speed and stamina? Miki corrected Sakamichi by raising his saddle quite a bit, after which he took off like never before. I doubt he’s going to beat Shunsuke in this race, let’s be clear on that, but I still wonder how one’s posture could affect one’s performance by that much. Interesting…
