Zero no Tsukaima F episode 03

I have a very bad feeling about this. Oh, not about this episode, oh no. I have a very bad feeling about Zero no Tsukaima F. This may have been the first time that I haven’t been looking forward to this show all week. Normally I’d wait patiently for the next episode, but my mind was on other shows this week. That’s a bad sign.

Well, the sure episode sure started out badly, at least for Louise anyway. You see, King Joseph’s plan was to capture Louise in order for his familiar, also known as Sheffield, to “extract” her Void powers with the use of her magic mirror. King Joseph wanted Louise’s “explosion” ability in order to control his “fire stones” at will. For good reason too, that spell and those stones make one hell of a combination.

It was pretty bad, King Joseph blew up entire ships by igniting those stones with that spell, it was complete and utter mayhem there.  Louise managed to knock the last stone away for a very brief period of time, but she just showed us how powerless she really is. That character really annoys me sometimes, as she constantly badmouths her familiar while she can’t do anything without him. I don’t think there’s been an episode where she didn’t scream his name, and not in the traditional good way!

It was a long day for everywhere. It took everyone’s contribution to win today’s battle. A lot of people (I assume) got killed during those explosions, but their deaths will not have been in vain. The enemy has been defeated, for now, and life will once again continue its natural course.

I’m still not too sure about the pope, because I get this uneasy feeling every time that character gets screen time. I know it sounds a little weird, but I can’t help it. I have this feeling that he has something to do with Joseph, that he has his own motives for assembling all of the Void users.

Anyway, it was a pretty good episode. It was fun to watch, although there were some annoyances as usual. I want to see Saito man up for once, to see him stand up against Louise and her rash decisions. She may not realize it, but her decisions have done great damage to many people. The sooner she realizes that, the better.
